PARENT TO PARENT

Parent to Parent is a FREE 12 hour class for parents/caregivers of children/youth with severe mental illness.  This course provides an overview of all mental illnesses that affect children.  Parents/caregivers are taught communication skills and problem solving skills to help them cope more effectively with their child.  Also, for the last class a representative from MS Families as Allies For Children's Mental Health comes in to speak about education issues for their children.

The diagnosis of mental illness in a child is always a challenge for parents. Needs change, depending on where a family is in the process of coming to terms with the diagnosis. FREE NAMI Support Groups empower and educate parents about the issues surrounding care, treatment, services, and provide mutual support.
